Day long care

Day care service, usually once every fortnight, is for patients who have been discharged and have returned for follow-up. Doctors examine and make necessary modifications to their regimen so that they can spend maximum time in comfort at home. If a patient is unable to visit, his or her relatives come, report the condition of the patient and collect the next course of medicine.

The day care facility also helps patients who are perforce left alone at home. This is because, most often, the sole bread winner in a nuclear family is also the sole caregiver. The patient gets professional care for the day while the family member gets a much needed respite.

During the day, patients and caregivers can make use of the library, watch television or participate in various entertainment programmes and recreational activities. They also get to attend sessions conducted by experts in patient care and problem-solving.
